20 Dec 2018 Another great StartUp Week at Haaga-Helia
In the beginning of December, StartUp School hosted three teams of higher education providers from South Africa and Botswana at Haaga-Helia Pasila campus. It was the perfect time to gather around entrepreneurship education as Slush takes place right next-door at Messukeskus. Monday’s program at StartUp Week included high-level keynotes delivered by innovator and entrepreneur Saku Tuominen, HundrED, Ambassador for Education Export Marianne Huusko from Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Finland, and Director of School of Vocational Teacher Education at Haaga-Helia, Ph.D. Jari Laukia. Yet again, Monday’s keynotes got practical confirmation and fortification by the sensation that Slush is. In its own unique and concrete way, Slush managed to challenge the way we think about entrepreneurship and innovation, and provide the best networking and learning platform.
StartUp Week continued throughout Independence Day and the following Friday. The program included keynotes from Pirjo Purovesi and Teemu Ruohonen who are StartUp School coaches and lecturers at Haaga-Helia, as well as a researcher and lecturer Anette Kairikko, who is highly experienced in university-linked incubators and accelerators. The week ended with workshops on implementing learnings from Finland, Slush, Haaga-Helia and StartUp School. The workshops resulted in many great collaboration ideas, not the least signing a MOU between EduExcellence and Botswana Accountancy College, to implement a university-linked incubator at their campuses.
As icing on the cake, all the participants were invited to the South-African Embassy by the Ambassador herself. What a lovely way it was to end an amazing week with people who share the passion for entrepreneurship education!
StartUp Week brings educational organizations and incubators together in Helsinki to get inspired, learn, benchmark and network. It is the part of StartUp School’s entrepreneurship education export. #HHStartUpWeek #AttitudeActionSuccess
