Tuusula 24 hour Entrepreneurship Camp brings together entrepreneurial minded students from Haaga-Helia, Keuda and Hyria. Beginning at noon on Thursday 12 April, and continuing for full 24 hours, the entrepreneurship camp provides opportunities to learn and network with students from various degree programs.
During the entrepreneurship camp you will be developing business ideas as a member of a multi-disciplinary team consisting of 4-5 students. The entrepreneurship camp will provide on the spot training and sparring for the teams, helping the teams to develop a pitch and an initial business plan. The experience culminates with a pitching competition on Friday morning.
The entrepreneurship camp is held at Keuda, close to Lake Tuusula. The beautiful lake scenery provides not only space to breathe, but also a snapshot to Finnish culture and history. Villas around Lake Tuusula have housed and provided inspiration for a number of Finnish artists, namely Jean Sibelius, Pekka Halonen and J.H. Erkko.
To gain the full experience of the entrepreneurship camp, we recommend you to stay at Tuusula for the full duration of the event. Keuda accommodates an overnight stay, but you will need to bring your own sleeping bag and matters. Entrepreneurship camp will provide coffee, dinner, evening snack and breakfast for the participants, paid by the organizers. There will also be a free of charge shuttle bus taking Haaga-Helia students from Pasila Campus to Tuusula and back.
The camp is organized together with StartUp School, Haaga-Helia School of Vocational Teacher Education, Keuda and Hyriä. Keuda and Hyriä provide secondary vocational education and training in various fields, such as business administration, beauty care and hairdressing, tourism and catering, health care and social services.
New Startup School Team Member Mikko Järvinen will be on location supporting the attending teams. Mikko is a practitioner, scholar and author on entrepreneurship with 10 years of hands-on entrepreneurial experience. In addition to Mikko, the entrepreneurship camp has attracted half a dozen experienced entrepreneurs as coaches, from fields such as healthcare, hospitality, logistics and wellbeing.
There are two ways you can participate and earn credits:
- Idea Contest (3 ECTS) can be completed by developing a business idea as a member of a multi-disciplinary team during the entrepreneurship camp. To gain the credits, you will join the entrepreneurship for the full duration (at least 12.30-20.30 on Thursday and 8.00-12.00 on Friday) and attend or perform the final pitch with your team during the Friday morning.
- Project (3 ECTS) lets you to take the role of a business coach for 24 hours. During your stay in Tuusula, you will coach and sparr your fellow students with novel business ideas. You will also evaluate and provide feedback on the ideas and pitches during the morning pitching competition. To gain the credits, you need to attend a briefing session, provide coaching at the camp (at least 12.00-20.30 on Thursday and 9.00-12.00 on Friday) and write a short report.
